We tailor our process to ensure each of our clients receives the correct level of service.
Each project will always benefit from a design-led approach, a single, consistent point of contact, and high-quality workmanship.
STAGE 0 - CONSULTATION
The process begins with an initial conversation. This can be a phone call, email, in-person chat or all of the above. We will listen attentively to your requirements, offer some preliminary advice and explain our process. We often discuss budget, timeframes and give rough guidance on fees.
STAGE 1 - SURVEY
This stage involves gathering all the information required to bring your garden aspirations to life. The scope will vary depending on the complexity of the project.
We will visit your site and carry out a 3D scan to generate accurate measurements. We will also request any existing survey information you may have, such as topographical surveys or arboricultural and ecology reports.
For smaller or more straightforward projects, this stage may be simplified to a site visit and basic measuring survey.
STAGE 2 - CONCEPT DESIGN
We begin with a sketch plan, mood boards, and, where appropriate, 3D models and visualisations to communicate the design concept. This is presented to you as a starting point for discussion and feedback.
For straightforward projects, a single concept stage is often sufficient. For larger or more complex schemes, we typically refine the concept through up to two additional revisions to ensure the design fully aligns with your aspirations.
For straightforward projects, we may end our formal drawing work here, and progress straight to build. In these cases we would also provide you an estimated budget for the build.
STAGE 3 - DEVELOPED DESIGN
This stage involves developing the concept into a refined and detailed set of scaled drawings, 3D models and visualisations ready for technical detailing and costing.
Through detailed moodboards we confirm the final materials and discuss planting lists, all of which feed into our high quality 3D visualisations which we produce in-house. We will also provide you with a detailed costings sheet at this stage, and often develop lighting designs also.
For straightforward projects this stage is often consolidated together with stage 2 (concept design).
STAGE 4 - CONSTRUCTION DETAILING
At this stage, the design layout is finalised and “frozen.” We then produce detailed construction drawings and planting plans to guide the build team in delivering your garden accurately and efficiently.
We also issue a final cost plan, including a detailed breakdown of quantities and scope of works. This comprehensive package provides all the information required to bring your garden to life.
For simpler projects, this stage can often be streamlined. As we are often both the designer and builder, we are sometimes able to progress without producing a full Stage 4 packages, where appropriate.
STAGE 5 - BUILD
At this stage, we move into the physical construction of your garden. Our team carefully delivers and manages the build on site, working to the approved design and maintaining high standards of craftsmanship throughout.
We provide daily site photos and progress logs to keep you fully informed, and ensure the site is tidied at the end of each working day. A strict no-smoking policy is also maintained on site.
Your point of contact remains the same person from stage 1 through to completion, ensuring clear and consistent communication throughout. We coordinate all aspects of the landscaping works to ensure the project runs smoothly, on schedule, and in line with the agreed specifications.
